Important Information for MARTA Customers with Disabilities – New Reflective Signs Available
Many MARTA customers with disabilities, who experience difficulty communicating,
have requested that MARTA develop a distinctive mechanism that would alert
an operator that they are waiting to board the bus and not waiting to cross
the street.
In an effort to honor this request, The MARTA Elderly and Disabled Access Advisory
Committee (EDAAC) approved identification signage for any MARTA customer to wear
or hold while waiting to be picked up at a MARTA bus stop. These signs
may be used at the customer’s option and are not required. Customers
who elect to use these signs must still be at the designated MARTA bus stop or
pick up location. The identification signage will allow MARTA operators to quickly
identify individuals with a disability who are waiting to board the bus.
MARTA will offer this signage FREE of charge to any MARTA customer
who wants one.
Description of the Sign
These signs are approximately 10”w x 4”h, with two sides.
Both sides have a grey background, which is reflective with the letters “MARTA” in
black.
Individuals may receive an identification sign by contacting the Office
of Diversity and Equal Opportunity at 404-848-4037.
