MARTA ARTS ADMINISTRATOR RECOGNIZED AS AN ARTIST CHAMPION
ATLANTA- Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) Arts Administrator Katherine Dirga will be recognized this spring by C4 Atlanta for her work bringing artists and their art to public spaces around Atlanta.
Dirga currently heads up MARTA’s Artbound, an art-in-transit program comprised of permanent and temporary visual works of art as well as live music, theater, and dance presented in and around transit stations. You may have seen her efforts at Five Points, Midtown, Ashby, or Airport Stations, to name a few. Large, colorful murals adorn station walls while singers and dancers fill the space with music and movement.
C4 Atlanta will honor Dirga for being an artist champion at its Spark arts and entrepreneurship luncheon in April. C4 Atlanta is an award-winning non-profit arts business incubator, offering Atlanta’s creative community access to high-quality career development services.
“I love the work C4 does in Atlanta and I’m honored to be recognized,” said Dirga. “Filling public spaces with art in all its forms brings people together and makes communities more vibrant. Using a busy train station as a canvas or stage also gives talented local artists a place to share their art and gain valuable exposure.”
