Emergency Preparedness Unit
The Emergency Preparedness Unit was formed after the terrorist attacks within our Nation on September 11, 2001. The Unit is responsible for the coordination of contingency planning to maintain the state of readiness for the MARTA transit system in the event of a tragic disaster. Over the past two years, with the aid of federal funds, the unit has worked with the Department of Homeland Security and the FTA to improve the safety and security of MARTA’s passengers and infrastructures. The Emergency Preparedness Unit has conducted full-scale emergency disaster drills, which brought together over 15 Metro Atlanta Area public safety agencies.
