 #HowDoYouMARTA with Tom

We follow Gwinnett County resident Tom as he commutes from the Doraville Station and rides MARTA to get into the city since the I-85 bridge collapse.

"I've worked at Georgia Tech for 25 years and have always driven from Lawrenceville to the campus. But when the I-85 bridge collapsed, I needed to find a different way to come to work. It was time to check out the train."

To Tom's surprise, leaving his car parked at Doraville and taking the train to town resulted in more benefits than just avoiding the I-85 congestion.

Besides taking 12 miles off his driving commute, Tom realized the train allowed him to avoid the stress of driving those 12 miles. "When I get to work I'm not quite as keyed up, and especially when I get home it's just a lot more relaxed Tom when I get home."

Lucky for Tom, since he's a grad student at Georgia Tech he was able to obtain a discounted U-pass so his MARTA commute costs even less!

Tom's decided that all the benefits outweigh the option of driving to work, and once I-85 is back in operation he plans to continue taking the train.

That's how Tom is using MARTA, #HowDoYouMARTA?
