Lost and Found Information

Inquire about a Lost Item
If you have misplaced an item, MARTA provides a process to reclaim items that are recovered and turned in. With over 500,000 customer trips per day, unfortunately, MARTA will not be able to stop each bus and rail vehicle to look for misplaced items. However, there are two (2) ways to inquire about an item that has been lost within the MARTA Bus and Rail system:

Online
For items lost within the MARTA Bus and Rail system, our online Lost and Found Inquiry form is the easiest and most efficient way to report lost items. Once you submit information on the lost item online, it will be entered into our tracking system for processing and will be accessible to Lost and Found personnel. Within 24 hours (or on the next business day) you will receive a confirmation email. Please note if your item is found it may take up to five (5) business days to reach our lost and found department.

Walk-In
Additionally, customers without internet access may inquire about their lost items and complete a ‘Lost Item Inquiry’ form in the Lost and Found office – see address below:

MARTA Lost and Found Office
Five Points Rail Station
30 Alabama Street, SW
Atlanta, GA 30303

The Lost and Found office is conveniently located near the Forsyth Street entrance to the Five Points station. Walk-in inquiries are permitted during the following operating hours: Monday - Wednesday - Friday 9:00AM – Noon and 2:00 PM – 5:00PM, excluding national holidays.

Special Note:
Please, do not report the same lost item more than once. Repeated claims will not help the process work more efficiently.
Be specific and provide as much detail as you can when describing your lost item. Our online form will help to guide you.
We will contact you only if a match is found for your lost item. It may take up to five (5) business days for us to match your item, retrieve it and contact you. If we do not contact you within two (2) weeks, unfortunately it may mean that your item was not recovered.

Hours of Operation
Items are available for pick up from the Lost and Found office during the following operating days and hours: Monday - Wednesday - Friday 9:00AM – Noon and 2:00 PM – 5:00PM. The office is closed on weekends and all federal holidays.

Return of Lost Items
You will only be contacted if a match is found for your item. Repeated visits or emails to our Lost and Found office will not help the process work more efficiently. If you are not contacted, it means that your item was not recovered. MARTA makes every attempt to return lost items to their rightful owners. For further information, see the below.
Lost items are held for 30 days. After 30 days, unclaimed items are donated to charity, properly disposed of, or destroyed.
