Welcome to MARTAMatters.com

No matter who you are, where you live or what you do in metropolitan Atlanta, there’s no doubt that “MARTA Matters” in many ways you may not realize.

Whether you ride MARTA every day – or not at all – the transit services we provide   have a profound impact on our fast-growing region, and the state of Georgia.

For instance, did you know that:

• MARTA ranks as the 9th largest transit system in the U.S. and the largest such agency in the entire southeast?

• MARTA provides about 500,000 trips each weekday to our customers who are going to work, to school or to doctor and medical appointments?

• MARTA produces about $2.1 billion in economic value annually that provides benefits to Georgians beyond its core service area of Fulton and DeKalb counties and the City of Atlanta?

But the truth is, MARTA is about more than just dry statistics and “big things that move” – much more.

• MARTA helps keep friends, family members and communities connected

• MARTA improves our overall quality of life by making the Atlanta region a more attractive place to live, work and play

•  MARTA is instrumental to protecting the air we breathe by reducing traffic-related pollution – keeping us all healthier

Since the very first MARTA train rolled out of the station in 1979, MARTA has been an integral part of the region’s vitality and prosperity. While we’ve come a long way in 30 years, MARTA still has a long way to go before metro Atlanta can realize its vision of building a truly regional, high-quality transit system.

To get there, MARTA will need your support, your ideas and our opinions to keep us moving in the right direction.

This web page is a forum for everyone who is interested in getting the facts about MARTA and promoting regional transit that ensures that the region we call home continues to grow and thrive in future.

Welcome to MARTA Matters!
