MARTA NAMES BAKER DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS

ATLANTA—Joselyn Butler Baker has been named Director of Communications for the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA).  She begins her new post August 9.

Baker will be responsible for overseeing and providing strategic direction for MARTA’s internal and external communications.

“Joselyn brings with her a great deal of experience in communications, media relations and public policy,—all of which will make her a valuable asset to our organization,” said MARTA General Manager/CEO Nathaniel P. Ford, Sr. “We are excited to have her as a part of our team.”

Prior to joining MARTA, Baker worked for a variety of corporate and non-profit clients as a public relations consultant.  For two years, she served as Press Secretary for former Georgia Governor Roy E. Barnes, where she was deeply involved in a wide range of quality of life and economic development issues, including transportation.  Baker has served as an advisor to a number of Georgia leaders including Congressman Johnny Isakson, Attorney General Thurbert Baker, and then-Georgia Governor Zell Miller.

Joselyn Butler Baker was named one of Georgia’s “40 Under 40” young leaders by Georgia Trend magazine in 2001.  She is a native of New Orleans, Louisiana and a graduate of Oglethorpe University.  Baker is married to Georgia Public Service Commissioner Robert B. “Bobby” Baker, Jr.
