MARTA NAMES BAKER DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATIONS
ATLANTA—Joselyn Butler Baker has been named
Director of Communications for the Metropolitan Atlanta
Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA). She begins her
new post August 9.
Baker will be responsible for overseeing and providing
strategic direction for MARTA’s internal and external
communications.
“Joselyn brings with her a great deal of experience
in communications, media relations and public policy,—all
of which will make her a valuable asset to our organization,”
said MARTA General Manager/CEO Nathaniel P. Ford, Sr.
“We are excited to have her as a part of our team.”
Prior to joining MARTA, Baker worked for a variety
of corporate and non-profit clients as a public relations
consultant. For two years, she served as Press
Secretary for former Georgia Governor Roy E. Barnes,
where she was deeply involved in a wide range of quality
of life and economic development issues, including transportation.
Baker has served as an advisor to a number of Georgia
leaders including Congressman Johnny Isakson, Attorney
General Thurbert Baker, and then-Georgia Governor Zell
Miller.
Joselyn Butler Baker was named one of Georgia’s
“40 Under 40” young leaders by Georgia
Trend magazine in 2001. She is a native of
New Orleans, Louisiana and a graduate of Oglethorpe
University. Baker is married to Georgia Public
Service Commissioner Robert B. “Bobby” Baker,
Jr.
