MARTA Bus Service Modifications Effective June 26
ATLANTA—The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit
Authority (MARTA) will implement its modified bus service
tomorrow morning, June 26, 2004. MARTA’s
bus operations have been reduced from 125 to 112 routes.
New orange bus service schedules are available on
MARTA buses, rail stations, RideStores at Lindbergh
Center and Five Points Station, and on MARTA’s
web site at www.itsmarta.com.
MARTA also published customer booklets containing information
on the route changes and frequencies, and frequently
asked questions. Published in English and Spanish, both
booklets are available at all MARTA outlets, as well
as the offices of the Latin American Association and
the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
The MARTA Board of Directors voted May 24 to approve
the Authority’s FY’05 operating and capital
budgets that included service modification to its bus
operations. MARTA’s bus service was modified to
eliminate non productive routes, combine routes, and
to enhance overall bus service for customers. With service
and staff reductions, MARTA will save 15% in operations
costs.
As a result of the service changes, MARTA will be
eliminating over 500 bus stops throughout the system.
For more detailed information regarding trip planning
based on the new service, customers can call MARTA’s
Customer Information Line at 404.848.4711.
