“Fall” Into Sports On MARTA
The air is beginning to turn cooler, the leaves will
soon be changing and that can only mean one thing—fall
sports are right around the corner in Atlanta!
Fall sports in metro Atlanta bring a few constants:
- The football action will be intense
- The Braves will be in the playoffs
- MARTA is the best way to get to the fall sports
action!
Whether it’s taking train directly to the Georgia
Dome to cheer the Falcons to victory or transferring
from the train to the Georgia Tech Stinger Shuttle,
MARTA is the smartest choice for fall sports action.
Here is a look at the upcoming sports schedule in
Atlanta:
Atlanta Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons usher in a new coaching
era with first-year head coach Jim Mora, Jr. The team’s
2004 NFL hopes rest on the strong left arm—and
rehabbed leg—of exciting quarterback Michael Vick.
Vick is back for what he and Falcons fans everywhere
hope will be an injury-free season after missing much
of 2003 with a leg injury.
The Falcons kick off the 2004 home preseason with
a game on Friday, Aug. 20 against the Minnesota Vikings
at 7:30 p.m. Atlanta will host the Cincinnati Bengals
in its last home preseason game on Saturday, Aug. 28
at 7:30 p.m.
The home regular season begins against the St. Louis
Rams on Sunday, Sept. 19 at 1 p.m.
MARTA’s rail system takes Falcons fans directly
to the Georgia Dome. Visit www.atlantafalcons.com
or call 404-223-8000 for ticket information. MARTA has
developed a partnership with the Falcons in which it
offers season-ticket holders “Falcons Flyer”
one-way passes to each preseason and regular season
home game.
Atlanta Braves
If it’s fall in Atlanta, then it’s
playoff time for the Atlanta Braves. The Braves will
try for their 13th-straight division title at Turner
Field. The Braves host the Colorado Rockies Aug. 25,
26 and 27, and then face off against playoff-contending
San Francisco on Aug. 28-31.
Seventeen home games in September will then set the
stage for several possible playoff games in the opening
series of the Major League Baseball playoffs.
MARTA’s Braves Shuttle takes fans right to the
front steps of Turner Field and returns them to Five
Points Station. Visit www.atlantabraves.com
or call 404-249-6400 for more information.
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets look to follow
the school’s recent basketball success to a winning
2004 football season. Tech will host some big games
this season at Bobby Dodd Stadium/Grant Field in Midtown.
MARTA’s train to Midtown Station connects with
Georgia Tech’s Stinger Shuttle that goes to the
stadium. The Yellow Jackets kick off their 2004 season
against Samford on Saturday, Sept. 4. They then host
the national powerhouse Miami Hurricanes on Saturday,
Oct. 2. Visit www.ramblinwreck.com
or call 888-TECH-TIX for more information.
