MARTA is not only hosting the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Annual Meeting this week in Atlanta, but it also made a statement in the bus competition held on Saturday, Oct. 9. MARTA bus operator Jimmy Gibbs won the Bus Roadeo operators' competition in the 35-foot bus category. That means that Gibbs will have bragging rights as the best 35-foot bus operator in the nation for one year.

Gibbs, who has been with MARTA since 1984, won $1,000 and a plaque for his efforts. Gibbs outlasted second-place finish Paul Klimesh of Ames Transit Agency 605 points to 596.
