MARTA SPONSORS VOTER REGISTRATION DRIVE

ATLANTA—Employees of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) are a sponsoring voter registration drive Tuesday, August 24 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Five Points and Indian Creek MARTA stations.

“Our goal is to increase participation in one of our nation’s most fundamental rights by helping riders get registered to vote," said MARTA GM/CEO Nathaniel P. Ford, Sr.

MARTA employees will be on hand at the concourse level of Five Points Station to assist riders with filling out voter registration forms and will file them on their behalf with the Fulton County Department of Registration and Elections at the end of the day. In DeKalb County, MARTA employees will distribute voter registration applications at the fare gate plaza of Indian Creek Station. Riders will need to complete the forms individually and mail them to the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office, 1104 West Tower, 2 Martin Luther King Drive, S.E., Atlanta Georgia 30334-1505.

MARTA’s Office of Government & Community Relations worked in conjunction with the Fulton County Department of Registration and Elections and DeKalb County Government to organize the event.
