Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTFF)
Pursuant to 28 U.S.C 533, 28 C.F.R. 0.85, Executive Order 12333, Presidential Decision Directives (PDD) 39, PDD 62, and pending approval of National Security Presidential Decision Directive (NSPD) 46 and Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD) 15, the FBI is authorized to coordinate an intelligence and operational response to terrorism. By virtue of that same authority, the FBI formed JTTFs composed of other federal, state, local and tribal law enforcement agencies acting in support of the above listed statutory and regulatory provisions.
The JTTF’s responsibility includes but not limited to briefing the Chief of Police on all Federal intelligence and terrorism related information pertaining to the United States; investigate all terrorism related cases involving MARTA mass transit; attends monthly security meetings with the FBI discussing national security and Transit Security; conducts background checks on all foreign visitors to the MARTA transit.
