Selling to MARTA
MARTA is the public transit system for the Atlanta,
Georgia metropolitan area operating over 700 buses and 240
rail cars. MARTA was the exclusive public provider of spectator
transportation for the 1996 Olympic Games.

Less Than $100,000
Most of the goods and services,
which MARTA procures, are obtained through competitive bidding.
MARTA may solicit either verbal or written quotes, depending
upon the dollar value of the item being purchased.

$100,000 and Greater
On purchases of $100,000
and greater, MARTA follows a formal procurement process. A number
of Vendors are notified of MARTA's intent to obtain bids. The procurement
is advertised locally at least twice, and upon the scheduled
deadline for receipt, bids are publicly opened and read aloud.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
MARTA is generally required
by law to advertise procurements of $100,000 and greater in the
local newspaper of largest circulation. In the Atlanta area,
this is the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, published daily in the morning.
The ads appear in the Legal Notices section of the newspaper,
typically on Monday.

Vendor Database
MARTA's Vendor Database is a detailed
listing of all persons and companies who have expressed an
interest in doing business with MARTA. Each vendor's listing
includes not only standard business data about the vendor,
but also as many as fifteen product or service categories
of items the vendor offers.

Periodic
Update Required
It is your responsibility to keep
your vendor record current. You should notify us of any changes
in name, address, telephone number, or contact person. In
addition, periodically we will send you a form pre-printed
with all the information on your record, and ask you to update
it. It is very important that you return this form, as failure
to do so may result in your record being deactivated.

Bid Procedures
Bid
Submission
In order to submit a bid, all required
documents must be returned to MARTA before the bid opening
date and time stated in the bid document. Bids may be hand
delivered or mailed to MARTA, Contract Control, 2424 Piedmont
Road N.E., Atlanta, GA 30324 prior to the bid opening date
and time.

Deadlines
The Contract Control office must receive
bids by the stated time. Whether late by seconds, minutes
or hours, a bid which is not clocked in by the stated time,
will be considered late and will not be accepted.

Opening Procedure
Sealed bids for procurements $100,000
and greater are publicly opened and read aloud at the time and place stated
in the bid document. Each bidder's name and the total amount
bid are announced. Anyone may attend bid openings, however
attendance is not necessary to be eligible for contract award.
Various parties at MARTA evaluate apparent low bids. If the
low bidder is rejected during the evaluation process the next
low bidder is evaluated.

bids if it is in the best interest of the Authority.
