MARTA RESCHEDULES PUBLIC MEETINGS TO DISCUSS PROPOSED BUS SERVICE MODIFICATIONS

ATLANTA—The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) has rescheduled two public hearings to discuss proposed bus service modifications to 25 routes. The original hearings were cancelled due to inclement weather. The hearings are scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 30 at the Clayton County Library and Wednesday, Jan. 31 at the College Park Safety Complex. They will begin with a community exchange at 6 p.m. followed by the public hearing at 7 p.m.

MARTA is also holding a community meeting on Thursday, Feb. 1 where you will have an opportunity to review maps displaying proposed bus route changes and provide your feedback. The meeting is at MARTA headquarters and will begin at 6:30 p.m.

MARTA regularly evaluates bus route performance including scheduling, on-time performance, ridership and safety. Modifications were recommended based on feedback received from customers and the Authority’s service analysis. All changes accepted by MARTA’s Board of Directors will become effective Apr. 14, 2018.

Modifications to the following routes will be discussed:Route 1: Marietta St.; Route 3: Martin Luther King Jr. Dr./Auburn Ave.; Route 12: Howell Mill Rd./Cumberland; New Route 14: 14th St./Blandtown; Route 26: Perry Blvd./North Ave.; Route 37: Defoors Ferry Rd.; Route 50: Donald Lee Hollowell Pkwy.; Route 51: Joseph E. Boone Blvd.; Route 58: Atlanta Industrial/Hollywood Rd.; Route 60: Hightower/Moores Mill; Route 66: Lynhurst/Greenbriar; Route 68: Donnelly Ave./Peyton; Route 82: Camp Creek Pkwy./Welcome All Rd.; Route 84: Washington Rd./Camp Creek Marketplace; Route 93: Headland Dr./Princeton Lakes; Route 153: H.E. Copies of the proposed bus service modifications will also be available at MARTA’s headquarters at 2424 Piedmont Road, Atlanta, Ga. 30324, from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

A sign language interpreter will be available at the hearings. The deadline for comments is Feb. 5.
