MARTA, SOCCER IN THE STREETS & ATLANTA UNITED CELEBRATE EXPANSION OF STATION SOCCER TO KENSINGTON STATION

ATLANTA - The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA), Soccer in the Streets, and Atlanta United are hosting a grand opening to celebrate the expansion of StationSoccer to Kensington rail station. The event is Saturday, July 16, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m., with the official kick-off scheduled for 10:30 a.m.

“We are excited to expand the popular StationSoccer program to Kensington Station on the East/West Line in DeKalb County,” said MARTA Interim General Manager & CEO Collie Greenwood. “MARTA remains a proud, committed partner in developing transit-accessible opportunity and enriching the communities we serve.”

StationSoccer was launched at Five Points Station in 2016, resulting in the first soccer field in the world built inside a transit station. The successful program has since expanded to West End (2018), East Point (2019) and Lindbergh (2020) Stations.
