Avondale South Lot
Bridge Closure
Effective December 12, 2016, The
South lot bridge at Avondale Station will be closed.
The decision to close the pedestrian bridge during construction was not taken lightly, and we certainly understand the inconvenience it may cause to some of our patrons. We have altered bus route 114 to help improve accessibility to neighborhoods south of
the station during construction. Route 114 will now travel along Talley Street, Sams Street and E. College Avenue before entering and exiting the bus intermodal on the north side of Avondale Station. Bus stops have been placed within the corridor, including a stop directly outside of the DeKalb County
Division of Family and Children Services (DFACS) office at 178 Sams Street.
Route 114 will operate on 20 minute intervals during peak am and pm hours. Patrons who previously used the pedestrian bridge can now board Route 114 on Sams Street to reach the station before continuing on to their final destination. Sidewalks along College avenue
will remain open during construction for individuals who are willing and able to walk to the station. As construction gets underway, we will continue to seek opportunities to reopen the pedestrian bridge as soon as it is safe to do so.
