TO OFFER ADDITIONAL SERVICE ON NEW YEAR’S EVE
Large Crowds Expected at
Falcons Game, Concert, Peach Drop
ATLANTA – The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) will offer additional rail and bus service beginning at 5 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 31 until 2 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 1, 2018.
There are several events planned for New Year’s Eve that will draw large crowds, including the Falcons/Panthers game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, the XSCAPE concert at Philips Arena, and the Peach Drop at Woodruff Park.
“Atlanta offers so many great events to ring in the new year and we want everyone to leave their car at home, take MARTA, and have a safe and enjoyable evening,” said MARTA Interim GM/CEO Elizabeth O’Neill.
All rail lines will provide service with more frequency and additional trains will be added as needed. Purchase a round-trip ticket at the beginning of your night to avoid long lines on the return trip. The last trains of the evening will depart all stations at 2 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 1, 2018. We will clear all stations before the last run to insure no one is stranded.
To attend the Peach Drop at Woodruff Park, take the train to Peachtree Center Station if you’re coming from the north or Five Points Station for those coming from the south, east, or west. There will be bus re-routes around the park and additional buses and Mobility vehicles on standby to offer transportation to overflow crowds. To help ease congestions at rail stations, plan to depart the way you arrived. Those attending the Peach Drop may not bring the following into Woodruff Park: weapons of any kind, fireworks, alcohol, coolers, chairs, or backpacks. You may bring a small, clear bag, like what you would bring to a Falcons game.

Bus and Rail Schedules
MARTA is the fastest and safest way to get to your holiday destination. Whether you are flying out of town, heading to Mercedes-Benz stadium to watch the Falcons, or plan to ring in the New Year at the Peach Drop at Woodruff Park, taking MARTA is the best way to avoid holiday traffic.
On New Year’s Day, MARTA will operate on a Sunday bus and rail schedule, additional trains will be provided to accommodate the large crowds for the Peach Bowl. MARTA’s New Year’s Eve schedule will be supplemented by additional trains and buses.
Due to the large crowds expected on New Year’s Eve, MARTA is advising riders to purchase a round-trip fare at the beginning of their trip to avoid long lines on the return.
Parking for less than 24 hours is free at all MARTA’s daily parking facilities. Customers parking in the decks at Lindbergh Center Station must park in MARTA-designated areas and validate their parking ticket at machines inside the station to receive free daily parking. MARTA has some designated lots at the Brookhaven, College Park, Lenox and Kensington stations that charge a fee.
