Planning oversees a variety of inter-related programs and activities that include short-to-long-range service planning, service data collection and analysis, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) mapping and analysis.
Department of Planning
The MARTA Department of Planning includes the following two offices:
- Research & Analysis
- Transit System Planning
Office of Research & Analysis
Research & Analysis collects and distributes much of the service-related data for the Authority. This data is then used by TSP to assist planners in decision-making for the development of existing and future bus and rail services. he Office of R&A is responsible for the collection, analysis, and distribution of MARTA key performance indicators (KPIs) as well as a number of other metrics produced by the Authority to track progress. Office of Transit System Planning (TSP)
The Office of TSP is responsible for the planning, design, and scheduling of all bus and rail service. This includes development of service plans as required for the Authority’s operating budget, intermediate service initiatives, and long-range expansion projects.
