MARTA'S Department of Police Services is a unique police agency involved in a specialized type of law enforcement. We are charged with the responsibility of providing a safe environment for the thousands of customers who use our transportation system every day.
MARTA Police Officers have a very high level of contact with the public. We are seeking highly motivated, intelligent men and women who can work well with the public in a dynamic, fast-paced transit environment.
We stress education and training for our officers. We believe in hiring the very best people available and we provide quality training opportunities to assist them in performing their job and learning new skills.

We take pride in the fact that we are a Georgia State Certified agency as well as being one of only four transit agencies (with MARTA being the first in this group to achieve such an honor) that have achieved national accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). QUALIFICATIONS: MUST BE AT LEAST 21 YEARS OLD, A UNITED STATES CITIZEN, AND HAVE HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA OR EQUIVALENT. The successful candidate will have one of the following:
- Two or more years of college
- One completed term of Honorable Military Service
- POST Certified Peace Officer or Corrections Officer
- Completion of a Pre-Service Academy
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Background investigation to include criminal history records check, polygraph examination, and credit check. Physical examination, including drug/alcohol screen and psychological test will be required. Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- $35,609.60 = POST Academy Training
- $37,024.00 = POST Academy Completion/HS Diploma
- $38,500.80 = POST Academy Completion/2 yrs. of college
- $40,040.00 = POST Academy Completion/Bachelor’s degree
- GA POST Certified Police Officers with 2 or more years of Law Enforcement experience will receive Senior Officer Pay.
