Meet the Atlanta Streetcar!

Streetcar

Regular rail service has resumed on the streetcar with two light rail vehicles operating approximately every 15 minutes.

Are you visiting Atlanta? Take an easy ride onboard Atlanta’s climate-controlled streetcar with large viewing windows and comfortable seating. The Streetcar’s current route connects the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site to the east and the Centennial Olympic Park area to the west, with 10 other stops in between.

First Things First, Buy Your Fare

1. Plan your trip or call 404-848-5000 for help and the latest schedule updates.

2. Purchase your fare a number of ways

a. To purchase with a credit or debit card, you may purchase your fare directly from a Breeze vending machine at a Streetcar stop.

b. To purchase with “ stored value” on your Breeze card, you may purchase fare from any Breeze vending machine at a Streetcar stop.

c. To purchase with cash, you may purchase your fare through the cash collection box located behind the Streetcar operator. Exact fare required for cash fare purchases.

3. If you purchased at the Breeze vending machine, you will receive a receipt that must be presented when boarding the Streetcar. 

4. Please note: there are no free transfers between MARTA Bus or Rail and the Streetcar.

All Aboard!

The Atlanta Streetcar travels between each of the 12 stops, moving in a counter-clockwise direction. After purchasing your fare, watch for the next Streetcar to approach your stop. After stopping next to the platform all the doors will open. Streetcars have low floors for easy boarding of wheelchairs, bicycles, strollers, and even Segways.

Accessibility

  • Inside each door are two large open areas marked as priority seating for seniors or passengers with disabilities.
  • Visual and audio announcements indicate the next stop.
  • In case of an emergency, passengers can use the intercom to speak to the Streetcar driver.

What’s There to See?  [listed in counterclockwise order to follow the Streetcar route]

Stop 1. Peachtree Center Station. This is the easy connecting point to MARTA’s trains. Across the street from the Streetcar stop is the  Atlanta Fulton County Central Library branch (currently closed for renovation). 

Stop 2. Carnegie at Spring. The world-famous global marketplace  AmericasMart tower buildings; former Atlanta mayor and civil rights icon Andrew Young Tribute at Walton Spring Park; the original commercial heart of Atlanta known as  Fairlie-Poplar Historic District, and Regional Xpress bus service.

Stop 3. Centennial Olympic Park. The heart of Downtown Atlanta, surrounded by  CNN Center,  College Football Hall of FameGeorgia AquariumMercedes-Benz StadiumGeorgia World Congress CenterCenter for Civil and Human Rights, State Farm ArenaChildren’s Museum of Atlanta World of Coca-Cola, and Regional Xpress, CCT & GCT bus service.

Stop 4. Luckie at Cone.  Balzer Theater at Herren’s, Fairlie-Poplar Historic District,  Georgia State’s arts venue Rialto Center for the Arts, and  The Tabernacle music venue.

Stop 5. Park Place.  Woodruff Park and Georgia State University.

Stop 6. Hurt Park.  Georgia State University: Recital Hall, Sports Arena, Student Center; Hurt Park, home to the “Fountain of Light”; and Regional Xpress, CCT & GCT bus service.

Stop 7. Sweet Auburn Market. The delicious  Sweet Auburn Curb Market, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Hughes Spalding; and Grady Memorial Hospital.

Stop 8. Edgewood at Hilliard. Historic rural-garden  Oakland Cemetery and the Selena S. Butler Park.

Stop 9. King Historic District. Civil Right’s Enriched  Ebenezer Baptist ChurchMLK, Jr. Birth Home & National Historic Site; and the Atlanta Fulton Co. Library MLK, Jr. Branch.

Stop 10. Dobbs Plaza. John Wesley Dobbs "Through His Eyes" Memorial Tribute; Tribute Memorial for Representative John Lewis; and the Atlanta Streetcar maintenance and garage.

Stop 11. Auburn at Piedmont.  African-American Panoramic Experience (APEX) Museum, University Housing for GSU, Auburn Avenue Research Library, Calhoun Park.

Stop 12. Woodruff Park. 11th District Court of Appeals, Aderhold Learning Center, Woodruff Park.
