Manjeet Ranu

Chief of Capital Programs, Expansion & Innovation

Manjeet Ranu serves as the Chief of Capital Programs, Expansion and Innovation for the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority, also known as MARTA.  This division is responsible for planning, developing, designing and delivering projects to both expand transit services to meet the growing needs of MARTA's service area and to continuously keep MARTA's infrastructure in a state of good repair to improve reliability and safety.  This is notable among major transit agencies in the United States, having significant programs focused on both expansion and state of good repair.  The division also strives to be agile, to meet the changing needs of those it serves today and tomorrow, innovatively.  Like all of MARTA, this division works collaboratively with its many community, local, state and federal partners to fulfill MARTA's vision, mission and priorities.

Mr. Ranu has more than 20 years of progressively responsible public and private sector experience in six states, including with Los Angeles Metro and the Utah Transit Authority.  With those major transit agencies, he provided leadership and management for similar programs.  In addition to being a transportation professional, he is a land use planner, environmental planner and urban designer.

Mr. Ranu holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Biology from the University of Colorado at Boulder, and Master of Public Administration and Master of Urban and Regional Planning degrees from the University of Colorado at Denver.  He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and Urban Land Institute, and completed the Eno Center for Transportation's Transit Senior Executive program. Manjeet is an avid mountain biker and cyclist, and a long-time user of transit.
