MARTA FACILITY TO FEATURE UPPER WESTSIDE COMMUNITY MURAL

Artbound With Upper Westside CID & Living Walls to Commission Mural at Brady Mobility Facility

ATLANTA – The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) public art program Artbound, along with the Upper Westside Community Improvement District (CID), are partnering with local mural organization Living Walls to commission a mural at MARTA’s Brady Mobility Facility.

“Art in all its forms can be inspiring and restorative,” said MARTA Director of Art in Transit Katherine Dirga. “With so much uncertainty surrounding our current health crisis, we are grateful for partners like the Upper Westside CID and Living Walls who share MARTA’s goal of using art to boost spirits and celebrate community.”

The mural is the brainchild of Upper Westside CID and will be painted on a south facing wall on the MARTA facility property at 1040 Brady Ave. NW (photo attached).

“This collaboration with MARTA is the type of partnership the district needs to grow the creative spirit of the Upper Westside,” said Upper Westside CID Program Director Adeline Collot. “Public art encourages everyone to take a small break in their day, to be in the present moment, and it makes walking, biking, and riding transit that much more enjoyable.”

The project, funded by Upper Westside CID, creates an opportunity for local artists to share their work and vision. Living Walls will oversee the artist selection process and implement the mural installation in mid- to late June.
